Behind the Scenes!

Long before the audience enjoys a live opera performance there is a lot of preparation behind the scenes. The Wardrobe Mistress will arrive at the venue several hours before the cast in order to prepare on site. As well as costumes our performers will wear wigs and jewellery to complete the effect. The company often performs in magnificent period settings, and so the costume must look convincing and at close quarters. The company has a collection of magnificent costumes from the 18th Century, Regency, Victorian and Edwardian period. The Picture shows our Wardrobe Mistress (Mirella) putting the final touches to the costume for a performance in the Goldsmiths' Hall in London.
