Opera Gala or Opera Soirée Evening

The programme of opera, operetta and musicals can be presented in one or two parts and is usually presented with spoken introductions, and with a 'light touch' when appropriate. The evening can include special requests and audience involvement, and we take pleasure in working with our clients to devise the perfect programme for each event. The artists appear in period costume or modern evening dress, and the accompaniment can be full orchestra, instrumental ensemble or piano.

Our Opera Galas have provided the entertainment for Festivals, Music Societies, Corporate Events, Charity Fundraising Events, Birthday Parties, Weddings and Anniversaries.

Highlight Performance

In the Highlight series we present the key scenes from a particular opera, linked with narration, giving abridged versions of Verdi's 'La Traviata', Bizet's 'Carmen', Mozart's 'The Magic Flute' or Puccini's 'Madama Butterfly'. The performances are dramatised and presented in full costume.

This series is unique to the company and offers the client the opportunity to invite their guests to a specific opera but as the performances last approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, the opera can be comfortably linked with a dinner. Also, because of the smaller cast involved the cost is considerably less than a full opera production.

The Highlight Performance can be followed by a short selection of well known 'encores' from the popular operas and musicals, if appropriate.

Windsor Festival 2006

The company presented a highlight performance of Mozart's 'The Magic Flute' in English and in costume and accompanied by an instrumental ensemble. After an interval break followed a selection of popular 'encores' from opera including 'La Traviata', 'Carmen' and 'La Bohème' and the operettas of Gilbert and Sullivan.

Full Opera Production

Our full-length productions include Puccini's 'La Bohème' or 'Madama Butterfly', Verdi's 'La Traviata', Mozart's 'Cosi fan Tutte' or 'The Magic Flute', and Rossini's 'The Barber of Seville'. Usually two of these productions are available each year and it may be possible to add to the repertoire by arrangement.

Full Opera Production for a Birthday Party

Burgh Gudenau, Germany - 200 guests

The company travelled to Germany and presented a performance of Mozart's 'Cosi fan Tutte' in Italian, with piano accompaniment and in costume after a drinks reception and before dinner. The performance lasted approximately two hours with an interval break.

Client comment: 'It is now over two weeks after you were with us but I must admit that we are still dreaming about this wonderful evening. We often go and sit in the drawing room and try to recreate in our minds every minute of this most romantic and exciting event. All our guests praised the excellent design, the beautiful costumes and wonderful singing. But above all stands the general comment that what we experienced was way above anything most had so far experienced in the 'normal' opera houses.

The Holders Season, Barbados

The company presented two performances at the Festival: a full performance of Verdi's 'La Traviata' in costume and with ensemble accompaniment, and then on another evening an 'Opera Gala' of popular operatic repertoire, also with ensemble accompaniment.

Review: 'La Traviata was attended by 400 patrons who saw some of the most talented English singers and musicians in a riveting and professional performance for the Barbadian audience. The talented performers, who included the international tenor Justin Lavender, in full period costume, convincingly portrayed the characters and stirred the emotions throughout the work. The superb musical ensemble accompanied the accomplished cast. (Weekend Nation, Barbados)

Hamburg - audience of 5,000

For the last five years the company has provided the soloists and costumes for a concert and 'Last Night of the Proms' as the grand finale of the 'British Day' in Hamburg in conjunction with the City of London Sinfonia. Part one of the programme features well known repertoire from opera and orchestral pieces, followed by the traditional 'Last Night of the Proms' which is immensely popular in Hamburg.

Client comment: 'Inviting you to perform with The City of London Sinfonia at our Proms Concert gave the evening that extra 'something' an organiser is looking for. The singing was, of course, magnificent, and combined with the magnificent costumes gave the concert the flair that our many thousands of Hamburg 'Promenaders' so enjoy.
