PHILIP BLAKE-JONES is the Artistic Director of Opera Interludes and London Festival Opera and studied singing and piano at the Royal Academy of Music in London. He made his professional solo debut as a baritone at Glyndebourne. He has appeared with Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Glyndebourne Touring Opera, Kent Opera, Pavilion Opera and at the Buxton Opera Festival. Performances have taken him to Italy, France, Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Spain, Russia, Barbados, and the USA. His operatic roles include Papageno ('The Magic Flute'), The Count ('The Marriage of Figaro'), the title role in 'Don Giovanni', Malatesa ('Don Pasquale'), Falker ('Die Feldermaus') and Syd ('Albert Herring'). He appeared with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company on two national tours singing Giuseppe ('The Gondoliers') and Strephon ('Iolanthe'), a role he recorded with the company with critical acclaim. In concert he has appeared as the baritone soloist in Benjamin Britten's 'War Requiem' with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra in Liverpool Cathedral and performed the bass solos in performances of Handel's 'Messiah' in Florence and at the Pisa Opera House. Most recently he sang in a 'Gala Concert' in Hamburg with the City of London Symphonia for an audience of 5000. Links |
